We are so proud of the mentoring program that Cumberland MOPS has developed with a local high school in Cobb County! Serving the community is a huge part of what we do at MOPS and this is the most important way that we serve together. We felt that as a mom's group, we had to find a way to serve needy moms in our community and the teen moms so desperately need love, encouragement and positive role models. It's a perfect pairing for our MOPS group because we truly believe that better moms make a better world. The Teen Moms program started in 2008 with a core group of three women committed to mentoring young moms in high school. This core group continues to meet at the High School once a week for mentoring, support and encouragement. In addition to these weekly meetings, MOPS provides some outside events at Cumberland Community Church. Before Christmas, we have a gift-making party with pizza and desserts. The teens bring their boyfriends and children and make beautiful gifts to take home from their children. We also plan a Mother's Day Dinner every year to celebrate our sweet teen moms!
