Life on Planet Mom - New MOPS Theme

posted Mar 13, 2009, 9:31 PM by Sarah Nicolet

The MOPS Experience equips women for the joys and challenges of their lives as moms. One key factor in the MOPS Experience is the relationships built within a group. Time and time again, MOPS moms share that the friends they make in MOPS are significant for this season of their life and on into their future. God created us for relationship! It’s one of the defining parts of being human.

However, when you become a mom, all your relationships change. It’s like you have landed on a different planet—Planet Mom—and the relationships on Planet Mom don’t look like the ones on your previous planet. Your relationship with yourself is different—you are a mom! Your relationship with your husband, girlfriends, extended family, community and God have all changed. Many of these changes are positive, some are not. Even positive change requires adjustments on your part.

During the 2009-10 MOPS year, we will explore how to thrive in relationships Together on Planet Mom.

Thanks to Jenifer Johnson and Carey Delucca for kick-starting this ministry for teen moms and soon-to-be teen moms!  They have been going into the high school for a month now and they are starting to establish relationships with these precious young ladies.  Although we know that many of you are unable to volunteer time with the teens, we are accepting donations for the teen moms and their children.  You can bring donations into any of our MOPS Meetings through the end of the year.

Consignment Sale

posted Oct 13, 2008, 7:34 PM by Cumberland Mops

Wow!  Thanks to everyone who made this year's consignment sale a huge success!  All of your hard work really paid off since that was the biggest sale we have ever put together for Cumberland Community Church MOPS!  We'll be getting a finance update at our next meeting on 10/21 and I know that we're all going to be blown away by the amount of money this makes for MOPS.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all MOPS moms!

Personality Tests

posted Oct 7, 2008, 1:05 PM by Cumberland Mops

We all had such a fun time getting to know one another's personality types in our 2nd MOPS meeting of the year!  We used a personality test that analyzes you based on 4 different animals: Lions, Golden Retrievers, Otters and Beavers.  It was such a great time and if you missed the meeting by any chance, just check out the attachment at the bottom of this post to take the test.  After taking the test, we moved to tables to sit with others of our same personality type to complete an egg drop competition!  I have to say that our moms are quite amazing and ingenious when it comes to constructing a crate around an egg, but the beavers won out in constructing a crate that did not break when dropped from 7 feet!
