FAQ's

What is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom: urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms. MOPS meets the needs of moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be!

Why would I want to join Cumberland MOPS?
MOPS gives you a chance to socialize with other moms who are experiencing the same mothering trials, tribulations and joys as you. We offer refreshment for your body, mind and soul. We have guest speakers, creative activities (nothing too complicated) and discussion time. We also offer play dates and Moms Nights Out throughout the year. These are optional and not part of the regular meetings but are a whole lot of fun!

My child isn't a preschooler yet. Can I still join?
Absolutely! We welcome expectant mothers as well as mothers with children through kindergarten age.

What are the fees associated with attending MOPS?
There are many options for paying the membership dues at Cumberland MOPS. The registration fee varies depending on the number of children who will be attending the MOPPETS program. Included in that price is the $24 membership fee for MOPS International (this includes a subscription to MOMSense magazine, MOM e-mails and other benefits throughout the year) crafts, speakers, childcare and other costs associated with running the group. Membership dues are typically paid for on an annual or semester basis, but we are very flexible and will work with you to meet your financial needs. We want to serve mothers of preschoolers, so no one will ever be turned away from our meetings due to financial need. Please contact our Finance Coordinator for information about membership dues and scholarships at finance@cumberlandmops.com.

Where is my child(ren) while I am in the meeting?
Children are cared for by the wonderful and qualified volunteers and staff of the MOPPETS program. There are multiple rooms available for your child based on their age. More information can be found on our MOPPETS page. Should a problem arise with your child, a staff member will come and get you.

Can I keep my child with me?
If your child is less than 4 months old, then we are happy to have your child in our meeting. Out of consideration for all moms attending, we ask that children 4 months and older be placed in the nursery. (Older infants who are still nursing can be brought in for feedings.) This is not only for the safety of the children, but also helps us in our goal of encouraging moms to have time for themselves during the meetings.

However, babies or older children that are sick are unfortunately not allowed to stay with their mom during the MOPS meeting due to the fact that newborns are in the room.

What is the MOPS Cancellation policy?
CCC MOPS will follow the Cobb County School system in the event of severe weather closings. If there is a 1-hour delay, then we will still have our MOPS meeting.  However, if there is a 2-hour delay or school in Cobb County is cancelled, then MOPS will not meet on that date.  We will communicate with you via email or facebook to notify you of a meeting cancellation.
